Andrea Di Gregorio

Director, Energy Efficiency and Renewables Administration - RAK Municipality

Andrea Di Gregorio is the Director of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Office in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, with the mandate to support the development of the Emirate towards lower energy intensity and a higher share of renewables in the generation mix.

He has more than 15 years of experience in the energy sector in Europe and the Middle East, where he worked for oil & gas majors and leading utilities in the fields of strategy, operations improvement and energy efficiency.

Prior to joining Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, Andrea Di Gregorio supported the activation of the Dubai Demand Side Management strategy as a PMO Director at the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, UAE, and as a Director of Strategy and Continuous Improvement at TAQATI, UAE. Previously, he worked as a strategy consultant at Booz & Company and Oliver Wyman, and as a Business Unit Director at Bertelsmann.

He holds an MSc. summa cum laude in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and an MBA from SDA Bocconi, Milan.

Aisha Mohamed Abdullah Al Abdooli

Director of Green Development & Environment Affairs Department - Ministry of Climate Change and Environment

Aisha Mohamed Abdullah Al Abdooli is the Director of Green Development & Environment Affairs Department at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.

Al Abdooli has extensive experience over 15 years in different fields including: Green Development, Sustainable Development & Green Economy, in addition to her expertise in developing policies, strategies and regulatory framework in Air Quality, Climate Change Adaptation, and Waste & Chemicals Management.

Aisha had worked in managing BOOT and PPP projects in Sewerage Infrastructure, Sewage Treatment Plants and Waste Management Projects in addition to managing EPCM firms to ensure that the Construction Environmental and Social Management Plan (CESMP) is implemented in Aluminum Industry and the project construction is executed in compliance with all applicable environmental standards.

In 2013, Aisha was appointed as the Director of Green Development at the Ministry of Environment and Water, where she was responsible for developing national green development policies and strategies and regulatory framework for transformation to green economy. She also developed necessary policies for the private-sector contribution in green development and monitoring the transformation of country toward a green economy. Subsequently she handled the role of both Director of Environmental Awareness and Education and Director of Air Quality at the Ministry. She was reappointed to lead the Green Development portfolio in January 2017. She is also serving as Chief Innovation Officer of the Ministry since March 2016.

Aisha holds Master Degree in Project Management from the British University in Dubai and Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering from the UAE University in Al Ain.

Graeme Sims

Executive Director - Regulatory & Supervisory Bureau

Graeme Sims is the Executive Director of Dubai’s Electricity and Water Regulator, the RSB.  An economist by background, he has over twenty five years’ experience of the electricity and water industries gained in the UK and UAE.    

Graeme was Deputy Director General at the UK’s Office of Electricity Regulation where he was responsible for the electricity industry in Scotland.  From there he moved to Abu Dhabi to establish the emirate’s water and electricity regulatory body, acting as its first Director General.  On his return to the UK he joined United Utilities, a FTSE100 utility company, serving as its Regulation Director and sitting on the board of United Utilities’ water business.      

Graeme is a graduate of Oxford University and began his career with the Boston Consulting Group.

Denis Tanguay

Chief Executive Director - Efficiency Valuation Organization (EVO)

Prior to joining EVO, Denis was a senior consultant with 30 years experience providing advice and expertise to clients in industry and governments in Canada and in other countries. As a consultant, his mandates included an extensive policy and market analysis of energy systems in northern and isolated communities, a green financing market study in the renewable energy sector, a blueprint for a building re-commissioning investment fund, energy efficiency program design, as well as various government relation mandates.

Before his recent consulting work, Denis was the President & CEO of the Canadian GeoExchange Coalition (CGC) for 12 years – the last two acting on a part-time basis while conducting his consulting mandates. At the CGC, he engaged the Canadian geothermal heat pump industry into a major market transformation initiative, ensuring market cohesion, industry discipline and trust. He acted as chairman for three years and organized the 11th International Energy Agency Heat Pump Conference in Montréal in May 2014.

Denis started his career as an economist at the Bank of Canada and then joined the federal department of Energy, Mines and Resources (Canada) where he held a number of increasingly senior positions. He left the government in 1994 to become a lobbyist and an independent energy consultant until 1999. From 2000 to 2005, he was the President & CEO of a 600-member based energy efficiency association in Québec.

Denis wrote and published several technical articles, research papers and position papers on energy, energy efficiency as well as geothermal heat pump market and market transformation strategies. He testified at PUB hearings in Québec on electricity issues, in parliamentary commissions at the Québec National Assembly and before House of Commons and Senate of Canada committees.

He holds a Master of Arts (Economics) degree received from Carleton University in 1993 and a Honours BA – Economics from the Université de Sherbrooke. He was a part-time lecturer in Microeconomics and Managerial Economics at the Université du Québec à Hull in the early 1990s. Over the past 25 years, Denis sat on the boards of many government technical committees, not-for-profit and non-governmental organizations.

Erika Honnay

Director - Kalista - Belgium

Erika is the founder and Director of Kalista, a consulting company. It helps governmental institutions in various topics (strategy, budget controlling and management, project development, interim management).

In 2014, on behalf of GRE-Liege (Groupement de Redéploiement Economique du GRE-Liege), Erika launched RenoWatt. RenoWatt is the largest Energy Performance contract (EPC) project in Belgium. It started as a pilot-project in the province of Liege in 2014 and since 2018, has been enlarged to the entire Walloon Region. RenoWatt concluded during the pilot project (3 years) EPC for more than 60 million on behalf of 12 public institutions (municipalities, province and one hospital).

Erika worked 6 years for McKinsey & co (2004 – 2010) and 5 years at Médecins Sans Frontières (1998 – 2004). At McKinsey & co, she was part of the social sector office; she mainly supported governments and public institutions in their growth strategy (economic redeployment). At Medecins Sans Frontieres, Erika was mainly based in the field (in Africa) and was a financial expert.

Erika holds a Post-Master Degree in Financial Economics and a Master Degree in Economics (Louvain School of Management).

Erika has always been recognized as a strong team player with an extraverted personality and genuine interest in others. Throughout all her professional life, she has been driven by the efficiency and the long-lasting impact organizations can achieve.

Christopher Seymour

Managing Director Middle East - Mott MacDonald

Chris Seymour has more than 25 years’ experience in the industry and manages the 1300 strong Mott MacDonald operation in the Middle East. Having worked in most of the major cities in the Middle East region over the last 9 years he specialises in commercial, leisure and healthcare sectors plus infrastructure and oil and gas. Chris is a member of the RICS MENAT Market Advisory Panel, and also sits on the Investment Committee of ENBD REIT and is an active member of the IPFA. Having spent many years in PFI and PPP procurement practising in both UK and Middle East he also advises many clients on strategy, risk, commercial and technical advice for large public-sector investments.

Suhar Inamdar

Head of Technical Support and Planning - Wasl Properties

Suhas Inamdar is an Electrical Engineer with Masters in Financial Management.


Starting his professional career in 1988, he has worked in manufacturing sector for 15 years, in various continuous process industries such as Cement, Pharmaceuticals, Abrasives, Refractories and Ceramics.


He switched his career into Facilities Management in 2005, starting with Jones Lang LaSalle. He oversaw the transitions of all the new contracts across India, and later managed the operations of hi-tech facilities of prestigious clients in central India, such as Microsoft, Deloitte, Accenture and Bank of America.


He came to Dubai in 2006 and worked for Serco Middle East, managing Nakheel’s Gardens community in Jebel Ali. Since 2008, he is working in wasl Properties, one of the largest developers in Dubai with over 35,000 residential and commercial units. Currently he is working as Head of Technical Support and Planning. He has played an instrumental role in implementing the best practices, systems, processes, policies and procedures during initial period, when the company was formed. He has led the teams in ‘Asset Management Services and Solutions’ department, for successfully implementing SAP, Mobility Solution, and finally, the Etihad Esco’s retrofit project in 243 buildings.


He believes the future of Facilities management lies in developing adaptability to embrace new technologies. The new innovative technologies are making obsolete, the traditional systems and processes, at an alarming pace. Anyone who does not change himself is destined to lag behind the frontrunners.


On personal front, his hobby is to write motivational fiction stories, which propagate good values in the society. He has published seven books so far, which are available on Amazon worldwide. 

Thomas Bosse

- Dubai Carbon Center of Excellence

As Head of Programmes for Dubai Carbon, Thomas is responsible for developing and managing Solar PV rooftops, greenhouse gas offsetting, emission reduction programmes and capacity building.

His other responsibilities see him involved in business unit management, developing and marketing new business areas, financial adherence, negotiations and contracting, client relations, and quality assurance and control. He brings to the table expertise in emission reduction projects adhering to the Clean Development Mechanism, Gold Standard, and Programme of Activities. He is also well versed in the mechanics of Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs).

Thomas’s career spans over 13 years of delivering in roles of responsibility in energy, sustainability, green economy and the mitigation of climate change.

Prior to joining the Dubai Carbon family, he has managed carbon abatement projects across the world- and has saved the planet a collective four million tons in carbon emissions. His build to operate (BOT) assignments have encompassed biomass and solar energy projects worth over USD 5 million.

Thomas earned his MSc in Industrial Engineering with a specialisation in Energy and Environmental Management from the Europa Universität Flensburg in Germany. 

Said Mouline

Director General - Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency

Born in 1963 in Rabat, Saïd Mouline is an engineer specialist in the energy and environmental questions. Graduate from the Institut National Polytechnique (Grenoble, France) and University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA), he was President of the Energy, Climate and Green Economy Commission at the General Confederation of the Moroccan Companies (CGEM). He was advisor to the President of OCP, the world leading phosphate company for a sustainable development policy. He has in the past worked within the Cabinet of the Minister of Energy and Mines and counseled various national and international organizations like the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental protection, BMCE Bank, WLPGA, World Bank, IFC, GTZ, KfW and UNDP. He was also Head of the Public Private Partnerships at COP 22 committee. He is currently CEO of the Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE).

Tolga Candan

As the Head of Energy Optimisation programme of Grundfos in UAE and neighboring regions, Tolga Candan is leading the challenge of helping businesses save energy consumption costs by auditing their current solutions. Tolga’s core strength is providing turnkey retrofit solutions to leading businesses, whilst working with them on a strategic level across the region. A multidiscipline engineer with MSc, his 16 years experience covers the construction and industrial manufacturing segments in UAE and the gulf region.

Deepthy is a Sustainability Professional with 11 years of experience in Architecture and Sustainability of the Built Environment. She leads the Middle East region for GBCI (Green Business Certification Inc.), the certification arm of the U.S. Green Building Council and is based out of Dubai.

Sandrine Le Biavant

Sandrine Le Biavant is the Director Consultancy of FARNEK, the Swiss UAE-based renowned Facilities Management company. Lead Auditor for Energy Management Systems and Green Globe consultant, Sandrine is an experienced hotelier and FM consultant also specialized in carbon management processes and GRI sustainability reporting.

Managing a team of engineers and consultants in energy, water, waste, CO2 and social responsibility management advising more than 100 hotels, hotel chains, owning companies and tourist boards in MENA, but also implementing energy management for FARNEK managed facilities (residential, commercial, malls), Sandrine is a passionate consultant. Her specialty is to empower owners and managers of facilities in implementing long term innovative solutions to improve guest experience, operational / managerial performance and profits at the same time.

Hassan Younes

Technical Director - Griffin Consultants

Named as the recipient of the Young Energy Professional of the Year 2015 for the Middle East Region by the Association of Energy Engineers. Hassan is Technical Director and Partner at Griffin Consultants, an energy focused consultancy specialized in sustainable designs and energy auditing.

A highly certified professional with extensive experience in the fields of Design, Sustainability, Project Execution and Management, Energy Efficiency, and Value Engineering; he is the first ASHRAE Certified professional outside of the USA to hold all six professional certifications by ASHRAE. The ASHRAE certificates he holds cover high-performance buildings design, buildings energy assessment, energy modelling, and buildings commissioning and operations. He is also a Certified Energy Manager, a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional, a LEED Accredited Professional, and an Estidama Pearl Qualified Professional.

With extensive experience in engineering systems design, analysis, and consulting and a passionate objective of raising the industry and sustainability standards in the region, Younes entered a partnership to establish Griffin Consultants where, as Technical Director, he responsible for all technical and developmental aspects of the firm. Hassan led and completed multiple energy audits with private and governmental entities and identified savings of more than $8 million in 3 year programs. Throughout his career, he was involved in the design of multiple high-end developments including retail, residential, commercial, and hospitality projects some of which are iconic in the Emirate of Dubai like The Beach (JBR) and City Walk.

Hassan is on the Board of Governors of the local chapter of ASHRAE acting as the Vice Chair for Grassroots Government Activities Committee and Vice Chair for Chapter Technology Transfer Committee. He is also on the Board of Directors of CIBSE regional chapter as the Consultants and Industry Liaison Officer. In those capacities, Hassan works to promote the advancement and improvement of the regional construction industry by collaborating with industry professionals, academia, and governmental entities. He currently is the Chair of the Industry Advisory Panel of the Herriot Watt Architectural and Engineering Program.   

He was awarded the Middle East Young Engineer of the Year 2010 and is part of the Griffin Consultant’s team awarded the Middle East Boutique Consultancy of the Year 2014.

Azmi Aboul-Hoda

Azmi Aboul‐Hoda is a Publicity Chair for ASHRAE Falcon Chapter. Azmi has 20 years of experience in the built environment field in international and multinational companies, his expertise covers various responsibilities in energy, sustainability, design, engineering, execution, testing, commissioning, and maintenance. During his tenure, Azmi was involved in many audits, surveys, and retrofits to enhance existing buildings’ performance, indoor environmental quality, energy optimization, etc. Azmi was part of the senior management for the electrical and mechanical systems’ works in various projects in Dubai Airport, including the prestigious Dubai International Terminal III / Concourse II Project (1.6 Billion Dirhams). Azmi is an active committee member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air‐Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Falcon Chapter. Rajmohan Govindarajan

Alexander van 't Riet

Alexander van ‘t Riet is the CEO of Mai Dubai LLC, a fast-growing and leading bottled water company in the region. He has over 25 years of experience in operations, sales, marketing, strategic consulting and general management. Alexander has worked both in the business-to-business environment as well as business-to-consumer.

Before coming to the UAE, Alexander worked in multinationals like Air Products, Gemini Consulting and Avery Dennison. He was an executive board member in equity-owned Innovia Films and lead the labels division of Constantia Flexibles. The latter spanned 22 factories worldwide. Alexander’s international business experiences reaches from Asia through Europe to the Americas.

Stephane Le Gentil

Stephane le Gentil is Founder and CEO of Wattaqa since November 2016. Wattaqa provides consultancy, advisory and project management services in end-use energy efficiency, energy Demand Side Management (DSM) and ESCO (Energy Services) activities with a focus on the Middle East region. In 2013 Stephane came to Dubai to found and lead Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO) as CEO. Etihad ESCO was setup under the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) as the official government organization to reduce significantly the consumption of electricity and water in 30,000 existing buildings in Dubai. Prior to Etihad ESCO, Stephane spent many years at a leading global Energy Services company to build their European activities. Simon Gowland

Building Performance Consultant & Managing Director - BPMG Partners

Simon is a building performance consultant with 16 years experience in the building physics/mechanical engineering fields specialising in the field of advanced building performance modelling to reduce energy consumption and improve overall occupant comfort in buildings and communities.

Simon has vast experience in the areas of dynamic thermal and energy modelling necessary for building performance optimisation and also for achieving compliance with the various regional and global sustainability rating systems such as LEED, Estidama, QSAS and GreenStar.

After working on a large variety of buildings within New Zealand and Australia, Simon relocated to Dubai in early 2008 working within sustainability and building services engineering teams on a wide variety of projects including small/large scale residential, 5 star hotels, shopping malls, theme parks, schools and commercial office buildings to name just a few.

In this time Simon have completed well over 100 modelling assessments for LEED and Estidama ranging from basic certification to LEED platinum rated buildings and also Building Performance Modelling GROUP

completed a number of Level 2 ASHRAE energy audits identifying and quantifying the energy saving potential of existing buildings through retrofit measures and replacement/correction of MEP systems and equipment.

In 2013, Simon founded BPMG - Building Performance Modelling Group, providing architectural and engineering consultancies with building performance analysis and assessments to assist with their day to day project design whether it be for design optimisation of the building systems/equipment to reduce energy consumption, compliance with global/regional sustainability rating systems, or for energy auditing of existing buildings.

Nerissa is highly skilled at traversing the HVACR Regulatory landscape in the Middle East, having worked in-depth with Regulations, Standards and Conformity Assessment Schemes under the jurisdiction of Emirates Authority for Standardization & Metrology (ESMA), Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC), Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organisation (SASO) and the Gulf Standardization Organisation (GSO) to name a few. 

Jason John

Technical Engineer - Emirates Green Building Council

Jason currently works as a Technical Engineer for the Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC) and upon joining, has contributed to the success as well the development of several of their programs. He is the co-author of EmiratesGBC’s Building Efficiency Accelerator Benchmarking Project Report, Defining Nearly Zero Energy Buildings in the UAE and the State of Our Schools White Paper. He also serves as the Technical Project Lead for the MENA Green Building Awards and was instrumental in developing and updating the Award categories judging criteria. Utilizing the extensive experience from his work with EmiratesGBC, he sits on the World Green Building Council’s (WGBC) Advancing Net Zero Steering Committee, the Net Zero Carbon Building Commitment Taskforce and the Embodied Carbon Taskforce and provides feedback and reviews on the work being done by WGBC.

Majd Fayyad

“Majd is a Certified Energy Manager, Renewable Energy Specialist and Mechanical Engineer. Majd has more than seven years of experience in the fields of sustainability, green buildings, zero energy buildings, solar energy and energy benchmarking. He has managed complex and multi-stakeholder projects in the UAE and Lebanon including the Dubai’s BEA Benchmarking Project, Green Key in the UAE and the National CDM Project for Solar Energy in Lebanon.


Majd has also conducted numerous research studies on sustainable and green technologies and most recently has focused on the energy efficiency of existing buildings and net zero buildings in the UAE. He authored and contributed to several national and regional publications. Among his greatest achievements was the launch of the “Defining Nearly Zero Energy Buildings in the UAE Report” in which he was the project lead and main author.


Majd holds a Master degree in Renewable Energy from Lebanese and Saint Joseph Universities and a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Lebanese University. He also holds CEM, LEED AP (O+M) and TRUE Advisor credentials.”

Pradeep Singh

Assistant Director for Business Development - Etihad ESCO

 Pradeep Singh currently leads the Business Development and Technical departments at Etihad Energy Services, (owned by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority) . He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree with CEM, CEA, CMVP, PMP, and LEED Certifications, and possesses more than 10 years of experience in leading roles in energy efficiency and ESCO projects.

Pradeep is the most senior employee of Etihad ESCO who has played a key role in the shaping of the newly established company. He conducted the first ESCO project’s feasibility studies and was instrumental in developing the first ESCO Contract based on the guaranteed energy saving and performance. He was also involved in the development of the Dubai Airport and JAFZA Retrofit ESCO project, which turned out to be the largest energy retrofit project in the Middle East. He played a lead role in the development of key ESCO projects in Dubai that will result in guaranteed saving of more than AED 100 Million per annum.
Prior to joining Etihad ESCO, Pradeep served as the energy manager for IBM, where he was responsible for achievement of the company’s energy conservation target. He has also worked with Schneider Electric’s energy management department and has done more than 100 energy audits, which includes power plant, different industrial sector, commercial buildings etc.

Jagath Gunawardena

Elie Matar

Elie is the Head of Electricity at the Regulatory and Supervisory Bureau in Dubai. The Bureau regulates the electricity and water sector in the emirate. Elie is predominantly focused on the regulation of building retrofits to promote energy and water efficiency in Dubai and on regulating electricity generation under the IPP model.


Elie holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a master’s in Business Administration. He has more than 17 years of experience in the utilities sector, largely gained through consulting work in the UAE, Canada and Lebanon. Prior to joining the RSB in 2013, Elie had set up and managed an engineering services and consulting firm in Abu Dhabi. He’s been involved in key projects and initiatives in the region, mainly dealing with regulation, demand side management, building rating schemes, energy services, IWPP, grid codes and standards, strategy, utility restructuring, asset management, utility information systems, network automation and control, and smart grids.

Nilesh Deshpande

Sustainability Manager- Infrastructure - KEO International Consultants

Nilesh is an Energy and Sustainable consultant with a background in Chemical Engineering with MBA in energy management. He is currently working in the Sustainability and Environmental Division of KEO as a Sustainability Manager, where he applies his knowledge and experience to sustainability and Energy projects.

Nilesh has more than 12 years of experience related to all aspects of green building services; specializing in Energy Modelling - Simulation, HVAC Design, Fundamental / Enhanced Commissioning and renewable energy.  Nilesh consults and manages LEED, Estidama, Trakhees, DGBR and Al Sa’fat projects in both Design and Construction stages. He has worked extensively with multiple energy modelling & simulation tools including IES VE, Visual DOE, Ecotect, DIAlux and others. Nilesh has also been responsible for the delivery of technical training programs on the use of energy modelling software throughout India and the Middle East.

Nilesh is LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP BD+C) and actively involved in more than 15 LEED Certified Projects in the region. He is also an Estidama Pearl Qualified Professional (PQP) and accredited as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) by the Association of Energy Engineers.

Nilesh has worked on and managed a variety of sustainable design and Estidama projects in the region; including large master plan developments, building designs and infrastructure development, which have included projects that have achieved LEED Platinum and the highest Estidama certifications.  He has an avid interest in the application of practical and cost-effective sustainable design and energy efficiency solutions and is committed to the advancement of sustainable development and energy efficiency in the Middle east region.
