Andrea Di Gregorio

Director, Energy Efficiency and Renewables Administration, RAK Municipality

Andrea Di Gregorio is the Director of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Office in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, with the mandate to support the development of the Emirate towards lower energy intensity and a higher share of renewables in the generation mix.

He has more than 15 years of experience in the energy sector in Europe and the Middle East, where he worked for oil & gas majors and leading utilities in the fields of strategy, operations improvement and energy efficiency.

Prior to joining Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, Andrea Di Gregorio supported the activation of the Dubai Demand Side Management strategy as a PMO Director at the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, UAE, and as a Director of Strategy and Continuous Improvement at TAQATI, UAE. Previously, he worked as a strategy consultant at Booz & Company and Oliver Wyman, and as a Business Unit Director at Bertelsmann.

He holds an MSc. summa cum laude in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and an MBA from SDA Bocconi, Milan.

Aisha Mohamed Abdullah Al Abdooli

Director of Green Development & Environment Affairs Department , Ministry of Climate Change and Environment

Aisha Mohamed Abdullah Al Abdooli is the Director of Green Development & Environment Affairs Department at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.

Al Abdooli has extensive experience over 15 years in different fields including: Green Development, Sustainable Development & Green Economy, in addition to her expertise in developing policies, strategies and regulatory framework in Air Quality, Climate Change Adaptation, and Waste & Chemicals Management.

Aisha had worked in managing BOOT and PPP projects in Sewerage Infrastructure, Sewage Treatment Plants and Waste Management Projects in addition to managing EPCM firms to ensure that the Construction Environmental and Social Management Plan (CESMP) is implemented in Aluminum Industry and the project construction is executed in compliance with all applicable environmental standards.

In 2013, Aisha was appointed as the Director of Green Development at the Ministry of Environment and Water, where she was responsible for developing national green development policies and strategies and regulatory framework for transformation to green economy. She also developed necessary policies for the private-sector contribution in green development and monitoring the transformation of country toward a green economy. Subsequently she handled the role of both Director of Environmental Awareness and Education and Director of Air Quality at the Ministry. She was reappointed to lead the Green Development portfolio in January 2017. She is also serving as Chief Innovation Officer of the Ministry since March 2016.

Aisha holds Master Degree in Project Management from the British University in Dubai and Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering from the UAE University in Al Ain.

Graeme Simms

Executive Director, Regulatory Supervisory Bureau

Graeme Sims is the RSB’s Executive Director and has over twenty years experience of regulation of the water and electricity industries, gained in the UK and the UAE. He studied economics at Oxford University before joining the Boston Consulting Group. He was Deputy Director General at the UK’s Office of Electricity Regulation where he was responsible for the electricity industry in Scotland. He established Abu Dhabi’s regulatory body for its water and electricity sector and was the first Director General. Before joining Dubai’s RSB he was Director of Regulation at United Utilities, the UK’s largest stock market listed water company.

Charles Blaschke

Managing Director, TAKA Solutions

Charles Blaschke is the Founder and CEO of Dubai based smart energy efficiency provider, Taka Solutions. He started the company in 2012 after working in the automotive, mining, industrial, and technology consulting industries with four years of building engineering experience since moving from Dubai in 2008. Charles and the company specialize in fully-financed, paid-from-savings Energy Performance Contracting efficiency projects. The goal is to help reduce 20% of the world's energy consumption using technology, finance, and engineering, applying IoT, energy modeling, energy monitoring, asset management and BIM.

Denis Tanguay

Chief Executive Director, Efficiency Valuation Organization (EVO)

Prior to joining EVO, Denis was a senior consultant with 30 years experience providing advice and expertise to clients in industry and governments in Canada and in other countries. As a consultant, his mandates included an extensive policy and market analysis of energy systems in northern and isolated communities, a green financing market study in the renewable energy sector, a blueprint for a building re-commissioning investment fund, energy efficiency program design, as well as various government relation mandates.

Before his recent consulting work, Denis was the President & CEO of the Canadian GeoExchange Coalition (CGC) for 12 years – the last two acting on a part-time basis while conducting his consulting mandates. At the CGC, he engaged the Canadian geothermal heat pump industry into a major market transformation initiative, ensuring market cohesion, industry discipline and trust. He acted as chairman for three years and organized the 11th International Energy Agency Heat Pump Conference in Montréal in May 2014.

Denis started his career as an economist at the Bank of Canada and then joined the federal department of Energy, Mines and Resources (Canada) where he held a number of increasingly senior positions. He left the government in 1994 to become a lobbyist and an independent energy consultant until 1999. From 2000 to 2005, he was the President & CEO of a 600-member based energy efficiency association in Québec.

Denis wrote and published several technical articles, research papers and position papers on energy, energy efficiency as well as geothermal heat pump market and market transformation strategies. He testified at PUB hearings in Québec on electricity issues, in parliamentary commissions at the Québec National Assembly and before House of Commons and Senate of Canada committees.

He holds a Master of Arts (Economics) degree received from Carleton University in 1993 and a Honours BA – Economics from the Université de Sherbrooke. He was a part-time lecturer in Microeconomics and Managerial Economics at the Université du Québec à Hull in the early 1990s. Over the past 25 years, Denis sat on the boards of many government technical committees, not-for-profit and non-governmental organizations.

Anne Le Guennec

Chief Executive Officer, ENOVA

Anne Le Guennec leads Enova, a joint-venture created in 2002 between Majid Al Futtaim Ventures and Veolia, providing building energy and facility management services for a wide portfolio of public and private clients.

Anne joined Veolia in 1998 and over a career spanning 18 years, has gained considerable experience in all facets of business development, technical and operational management.

Starting her career in France, Anne headed a team in charge of waste management contracts with municipalities and industries. She was then appointed as Project Director for EPC projects. In 2008, she became the Technical Director for Water, Wastewater and Electricity activities at Veolia in Morocco.

Anne was in charge of Veolia’s Business Development in the Middle East prior to her appointment as CEO of Enova in April 2016.

Michael Geissler

Chief Executive Officer, Berlin Energy Agency (BEA)

Since 1997, Michael Geissler has been CEO of the Berlin Energy Agency (BEA), a public-private partnership established by the State of Berlin. BEA develops and implements innovative projects for the efficient generation and use of energy in public, commercial and residential buildings. As a specialist in both co- and trigeneration and solar (photovoltaic and solar thermal), it owns and operates over 150 decentralized energy generation systems in Berlin, offering also smart city solutions (e.g. demand response in microgrids). In Germany and abroad, BEA provides consultancy on energy concepts and energy management as well as awareness raising and capacity building.

 

Michael Geissler is, among other positions, Chairman of the German Federal Association of Energy and Climate Protection Agencies (eaD), Board member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Berlin, member of the Climate Protection Expert Council of the State of Berlin and member of the Advisory Council of Berlin’s Business Development Bank (IBB). From 2000 to 2018, he has been Secretary General of the European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and Environment (FEDARENE).

Francisco Ramalheira

Business Development & Marketing Director, Enova

Having been with Enova since 2009, Francisco was appointed Business Development & Marketing Director in September 2017. With an extensive operational background in, and knowledge of, different business models, as well as a proven track record consolidating and developing business units, he is the perfect fit for this role.

Francisco was previously Director of Operations responsible for Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, a position that went beyond operational delivery, entailing the management of supporting functions and direct responsibility for the business units’ financial results and business development.

Francisco is knowledgeable about all building services, with a deep technical exposure and interest in energy conservation and efficiency, renewable energy, CHP and HVAC systems. This, along with his commercial acumen, has enabled him to support the successful implementation of Energy Performance Contracts. He has extensive experience in all building typologies and is acquainted with a variety of engineering disciplines and Green Building Certification tools. Francisco has been a built environmental professional throughout his career and has been involved in more than 200 projects in Europe, South America and the Middle East.

Erika Honnay

Director, Kalista - Belgium

Erika is the founder and Director of Kalista, a consulting company. It helps governmental institutions in various topics (strategy, budget controlling and management, project development, interim management).

In 2014, on behalf of GRE-Liege (Groupement de Redéploiement Economique du GRE-Liege), Erika launched RenoWatt. RenoWatt is the largest Energy Performance contract (EPC) project in Belgium. It started as a pilot-project in the province of Liege in 2014 and since 2018, has been enlarged to the entire Walloon Region. RenoWatt concluded during the pilot project (3 years) EPC for more than 60 million on behalf of 12 public institutions (municipalities, province and one hospital).

RenoWatt has now been transferred to the Walloon Region and is dedicated to support all local entities in Wallonia (262 municipalities, provinces, hospitals, schools…).

RenoWatt received in May 2017 the European project best service award (EESA) as well as the best Energy Management project (AEE, Charlotte, USA, October 2018).

Prior to working for RenoWatt / Kalista, Erika worked 6 years for McKinsey & co (2004 – 2010) and 5 years at Médecins Sans Frontières (1998 – 2004). At McKinsey & co, she was part of the social sector office; she mainly supported governments and public institutions in their growth strategy (economic redeployment). At Medecins Sans Frontieres, Erika was mainly based in the field (in Africa) and was a financial expert.

Erika holds a Post-Master Degree in Financial Economics and a Master Degree in Economics (Louvain School of Management).

Erika has always been recognized as a strong team player with an extraverted personality and genuine interest in others. Throughout all her professional life, she has been driven by the efficiency and the long-lasting impact organizations can achieve.

Suhar Inamdar

Head of Technical Support and Planning, Wasl Properties

Suhas Inamdar is an Electrical Engineer with Masters in Financial Management.

 

Starting his professional career in 1988, he has worked in manufacturing sector for 15 years, in various continuous process industries such as Cement, Pharmaceuticals, Abrasives, Refractories and Ceramics.

 

He switched his career into Facilities Management in 2005, starting with Jones Lang LaSalle. He oversaw the transitions of all the new contracts across India, and later managed the operations of hi-tech facilities of prestigious clients in central India, such as Microsoft, Deloitte, Accenture and Bank of America.

 

He came to Dubai in 2006 and worked for Serco Middle East, managing Nakheel’s Gardens community in Jebel Ali. Since 2008, he is working in wasl Properties, one of the largest developers in Dubai with over 35,000 residential and commercial units. Currently he is working as Head of Technical Support and Planning. He has played an instrumental role in implementing the best practices, systems, processes, policies and procedures during initial period, when the company was formed. He has led the teams in ‘Asset Management Services and Solutions’ department, for successfully implementing SAP, Mobility Solution, and finally, the Etihad Esco’s retrofit project in 243 buildings.

 

He believes the future of Facilities management lies in developing adaptability to embrace new technologies. The new innovative technologies are making obsolete, the traditional systems and processes, at an alarming pace. Anyone who does not change himself is destined to lag behind the frontrunners.

 

On personal front, his hobby is to write motivational fiction stories, which propagate good values in the society. He has published seven books so far, which are available on Amazon worldwide.

Thomas Bosse

Dubai Carbon Center of Excellence

As Head of Programmes for Dubai Carbon, Thomas is responsible for developing and managing Solar PV rooftops, greenhouse gas offsetting, emission reduction programmes and capacity building.

His other responsibilities see him involved in business unit management, developing and marketing new business areas, financial adherence, negotiations and contracting, client relations, and quality assurance and control. He brings to the table expertise in emission reduction projects adhering to the Clean Development Mechanism, Gold Standard, and Programme of Activities. He is also well versed in the mechanics of Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs).

Thomas’s career spans over 13 years of delivering in roles of responsibility in energy, sustainability, green economy and the mitigation of climate change.

Prior to joining the Dubai Carbon family, he has managed carbon abatement projects across the world- and has saved the planet a collective four million tons in carbon emissions. His build to operate (BOT) assignments have encompassed biomass and solar energy projects worth over USD 5 million.

Thomas earned his MSc in Industrial Engineering with a specialisation in Energy and Environmental Management from the Europa Universität Flensburg in Germany. 

Said Mouline

Director General, Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency

Born in 1963 in Rabat, Saïd Mouline is an engineer specialist in the energy and environmental questions. Graduate from the Institut National Polytechnique (Grenoble, France) and University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA), he was President of the Energy, Climate and Green Economy Commission at the General Confederation of the Moroccan Companies (CGEM). He was advisor to the President of OCP, the world leading phosphate company for a sustainable development policy. He has in the past worked within the Cabinet of the Minister of Energy and Mines and counseled various national and international organizations like the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental protection, BMCE Bank, WLPGA, World Bank, IFC, GTZ, KfW and UNDP. He was also Head of the Public Private Partnerships at COP 22 committee. He is currently CEO of the Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE).

Sandrine Le Biavant

Sandrine Le Biavant is the Director Consultancy of FARNEK, the Swiss UAE-based renowned Facilities Management company. Lead Auditor for Energy Management Systems and Green Globe consultant, Sandrine is an experienced hotelier and FM consultant also specialized in carbon management processes and GRI sustainability reporting.

Managing a team of engineers and consultants in energy, water, waste, CO2 and social responsibility management advising more than 100 hotels, hotel chains, owning companies and tourist boards in MENA, but also implementing energy management for FARNEK managed facilities (residential, commercial, malls), Sandrine is a passionate consultant. Hassan Younes

Technical Director, Griffin Consultants

Named as the recipient of the Young Energy Professional of the Year 2015 for the Middle East Region by the Association of Energy Engineers. Hassan is Technical Director and Partner at Griffin Consultants, an energy focused consultancy specialized in sustainable designs and energy auditing.

A highly certified professional with extensive experience in the fields of Design, Sustainability, Project Execution and Management, Energy Efficiency, and Value Engineering; he is the first ASHRAE Certified professional outside of the USA to hold all six professional certifications by ASHRAE. The ASHRAE certificates he holds cover high-performance buildings design, buildings energy assessment, energy modelling, and buildings commissioning and operations. He is also a Certified Energy Manager, a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional, a LEED Accredited Professional, and an Estidama Pearl Qualified Professional.

With extensive experience in engineering systems design, analysis, and consulting and a passionate objective of raising the industry and sustainability standards in the region, Younes entered a partnership to establish Griffin Consultants where, as Technical Director, he responsible for all technical and developmental aspects of the firm. Hassan led and completed multiple energy audits with private and governmental entities and identified savings of more than $8 million in 3 year programs. Throughout his career, he was involved in the design of multiple high-end developments including retail, residential, commercial, and hospitality projects some of which are iconic in the Emirate of Dubai like The Beach (JBR) and City Walk.

Hassan is on the Board of Governors of the local chapter of ASHRAE acting as the Vice Chair for Grassroots Government Activities Committee and Vice Chair for Chapter Technology Transfer Committee. He is also on the Board of Directors of CIBSE regional chapter as the Consultants and Industry Liaison Officer. In those capacities, Hassan works to promote the advancement and improvement of the regional construction industry by collaborating with industry professionals, academia, and governmental entities. He currently is the Chair of the Industry Advisory Panel of the Herriot Watt Architectural and Engineering Program.   

He was awarded the Middle East Young Engineer of the Year 2010 and is part of the Griffin Consultant’s team awarded the Middle East Boutique Consultancy of the Year 2014.

Azmi Aboul-Hoda

Azmi Aboul‐Hoda is a Publicity Chair for ASHRAE Falcon Chapter. Azmi has 20 years of experience in the built environment field in international and multinational companies, his expertise covers various responsibilities in energy, sustainability, design, engineering, execution, testing, commissioning, and maintenance. Stephane Le Gentil

Stephane le Gentil is Founder and CEO of Wattaqa since November 2016. Wattaqa provides consultancy, advisory and project management services in end-use energy efficiency, energy Demand Side Management (DSM) and ESCO (Energy Services) activities with a focus on the Middle East region. In 2013 Stephane came to Dubai to found and lead Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO) as CEO.
